World Environment Day


     World Environment Day was celebrated on 10th June 2019 by Department of Botany. As part of it a  seminar  was conducted on the topic  'Beat air pollution' dealed by Mr. Sajeesh Joy and Mr. Abhilash, Asst. Environmental engineers, KSPCB. Saplings were handed over to the Principal of our college to be planted in the college premises.

SWATCHTHA PAKWADA CELEBRATIONS



As a part of Swatchtha Pakwada celebration Department of Botany distributed plants which absorb maximum carbon dioxide, on 17-01-2019.  Aloe vera plants were given to every department and Neem plants were planted in the college premises.

Forest Week Celebration - 'Vanamahotsava'

Forest week was celebrated on July 1 by department of Botany.

Department of Botany celebrated Forest Week. A video was presented in the auditorium for students on ‘Forests of Kerala and Garden of Eden’ as a part of forest week celebration on 1 - July - 2019 at the College auditorium. 

On the next day students of UG and PG Botany distributed medicinal plants and explained their uses to the houses near the college.


NATURE CONSERVATION DAY CELEBRATION



Department of Botany celebrated Nature Conservation Day on July 29. An exhibition of posters, collage and articles on the topic 'Nature Conservation' was conducted by the students of botany in front of the department. 

Botany Association (Herbocollegium) Inauguration



Herbocollegium was inaugurated on 19-11-2019 by Dr. Deepu Mathew, Asst. Professor,  Centre for Plant Biotechnology and Molecular Biology , Kerala Agricultural University. He took a seminar on 'Allele Mining'.

'Dustland fairytale' -World Environmental Day Webinar 2020

Department of Botany , Little Flower College Guruvayoor  organized World Environmental Day Webinar ' Dustland Fairytale ' on 04-06-2020. 

Mr.Ashok Kumar Ganguly ,one of the founders of Timbakthu collective, Organization for sustainable development and organic farming in the drought prone Anantapuramu district of Aandra Pradesh ,shared his valuable experiences on ecological restoration of waste lands, organic farming  and sustainable development. https://youtu.be/MP_qYRRv6Qc

World Environment Day, June 05, 2024

A seminar was organised on June 5th 2024, World Environment Day by the Department of Botany in collaboration with theBhoo Mithra Sena club of our college.Mr Rajineesh Rajan, Program Officer, Suchithwa Mission, Thrissur engaged the participants with the very current topic related with Solid waste management which is 'Role of Green Protocol for Waste Management'. Principal of Little Flower College, Dr Sr J Bincy inaugurated the club activities of the academic year 2024-2025 by handing over the sapling of fruit tree to the Head of the Department of Botany and FIC of Bhoomithra sena Club Dr Sithara K Urumbil and Club Members.

International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2023- Poster Competition,26/07/23

The world drug problem is increasing alarmingly and it is considered as complex issue that affects millions of people worldwide and to be handled with extreme care. Many people who use drugs face stigma and discrimination which affects their socio-economic life; therefore, they were not ready to access the help they need. The UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC)decided to take a people-centered approach to educate and effectively reduce the drug abuse based on human rights, compassion, and evidence-based practices.

The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, or World Drug Day, is marked on 26 June every year to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving a world free of drug abuse. 

Department of Botany observed and organised the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2023 on 26th June 2023. A poster competition was organised as part of it. Students actively participated in the competition and Lima Krishna of II-year BSc botany secured First Prize.

VANMAHOTSAV (1 – 7 TH JULY) 2023- PENCIL DRAWING COMPETITION

Department of Botany conducted a pencil drawing competition in connection with the celebration of Vanmahotsav Week 2023.16 Students of various departments of our college participated

Zero Plastic Waste Campaign on World Environment Day-05-06-2023

As part of the Campaign the students of Second semester B Sc botany actively participated in collecting plastic from the outside premisses of the campus, bus stop and nearby areas. As instructed by the College Principal the plastic wastes were sent to proper disposal

World Environment Day 2023,05/06/2023

The world environment day of the academic year 2023-2024 was celebrated on 5th June, 2023 at college auditorium. The function was inaugurated by college principal Rev. Sr. Dr. Jeesma Therese and the chief guest was Mr. E. J. James, NGO, Green Habitat, Thrissur. The adverse effects of plastic on environment and the relevance of environment conservation was discussed. After the function, a sapling of Pterocarpus santalinum was planted in the premises of butterfly Garden. Final year U.G. students of B. Sc. Classes attended the programme. 

International Yoga day

International yoga day was celebrated on 22-06-2021 by organizing a  webinar on the topic" Yoga - Harmony of body ,mind and energy". Mrs. Honey Thattil- yogacharya (M.Sc Yoga, ATTC yoga) explained about yoga its importance and showed few asanas .

Van Mahotsav week celebration (1-7 July 2023) Interdepartmental Quiz competition

An interdepartmental quiz competition in connection with Van Mahotsav week celebration was conducted on 7 july 2023 at 1 pm. The questions were based on the topic “Forest”   . 43 students from various departments participated in the competition. First prize was secured by Ms. Shima, of III DC English
