WELCOME TO PG DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY

OVERVIEW

Department of chemistry was affiliated to the university of Kerala in 1963  and was later shifted to the university of Calicut in 1968 .The department has vaulted the heights in excellence & their greatest assets are their students who have garnered many academic laurels consistently down the year. Our emphasis  is in imparting skills of dedication and resilience in search of perfection and innovation in  problem solving of contemporary issues. A post graduate department in pure chemistry has started functioning since 2012.The faculty has been giving extension lectures in various schools and at local organizations. A number of community development programmes were also carried out by the department. The department also conducted a three year add on course in “Entrepreneurial Skill Development" with functional assistance from UGC during 2005 – 2008. The department functions in conformity to the LF values. The co-curricular activities and extension activities  always focus on the eco-friendliness and social commitment.The department provides certificate courses which will create add an advantage to student to their regular programme. The B.Voc Pharmaceutical Chemistry of the college started under this department. The chemistry association and  chem club - the club  functioning  exclusively for present chemistry students  displays their talents through the wall magazine chem  zone.Green club  -the club open to all students of the college- works effectively.The wall magazine green zone is under this club. Through this club the Dept. conducts seminars, quiz competitions, significant day celebrations related to chemistry and environment and extension activities. At present, 8 faculty members are there, out of which 5 are adhoc faculty. Dr.Moly.P.P. is the Head of the Department since 2024.
