National Service Scheme (NSS)

The National Service Scheme has been introduced in Colleges and Universities all over India in response to the Kothari Commissions recommendation that education should be oriented  to the social needs by involving students in service to the community. Volunteers who undergo the prescribed course of training are awarded certificates by the university and get bonus marks for admission to higher courses. The NSS unit of the college has strived to extend the frontiers of community extension activities to new heights. The Municipality of Guruvayoor, the ward councilors and other well wishers have enabled the college’s NSS unit  to record an impressive array of outreach programmes. Our college has an energetic NSS unit that undertakes a number of awareness, afforestation and cleaning campaigns in the locality. N.S.S team also conducts awareness classes, competitions and quizzes on woman oriented issues. Women empowerment among the physically challenged and the marginalized raises the issue among the students to keenly develop the appropriate resilient strengths to face the future. Interventional succor is extended to the marginalized in the locality. Every year an annual camp of seven days is conducted. A room is allotted for NSS to keep the files and records. The materials of camp and working equipments are stored in that room. Various activities and programmes of NSS unit are conducted at the seminar hall or Room no.10.
