National Voter’s
day was observed in the institution by the department. Students participated
in the ‘Wall of Democracy Campaign’ organised by election department of
Government of Kerala.
A one-day national seminar on “Democracy and Minority
Rights in India: Issues, Challenges and
Way forward” was conducted by the Departments of History, Political science and
IQAC, Little Flower College Guruvayoor and forum for democracy and social
justice in association with institute of parliamentary affairs, Government of
Kerala. The seminar was held on 8th December 20223.
National
constitution day was observed in the institution by the department. Principal
Dr.Sr. Valsa M A delivered a message and the preamble was read in the college
assembly.
Model G20 program was organised at Little flower college Guruvayoor on
31/10/2023. The theme selected for the model summit was " climate
change and disaster risk reduction: making sustainability a way of life".
Panels were formed by the students representing different nations and different
topics. College principal Dr.Sr. Valsa M A inaugurated the program and was the
chief spokesperson in the event. Students presented their ideas representing
different countries within the selected domain of discussion. There was
participation from the part of faculty members also.
The department conducted a panel discussion on " Political
Instability and Violence in Manipur" on 25/07/2023. There were
presentations on six topics related to the issue by students. The presentations
were followed by an open discussion. Principal Dr. Sr. Valsa M A inaugurated
the session and made an introductory address
A one day national seminar on constitutionalism and
human rights in India: exploring new vistas was conducted by the Department of
history and political science and IQAC, Little Flower College Guruvayur and
forum for democracy and social justice in association with institute of
parliamentary affairs, Government of Kerala. The seminar was held on 22nd
December 2022.
In
connection with national constitution day 2022, an online quiz competition was
conducted by the department on 26th November 2022. The
competition was effective with a greater participation of students. Nearly 80
students participated in the competition conducted through google forms.
The Department organized a National Webinar on the topic
"Indian Constitution: Evolution and its Relevance in Contemporary India”,
on 26th November 2021, in connection with Constitution Day celebration. Our
Principal Rev. Dr. Sr. Jeesma Therese inaugurated the webinar. Dr. S.D.
Christopher Chandran, Associate Professor And Department Head of Political
Science, Madras Christian College, Chennai enlightened the students with his
valuable words. Students actively participated in the interactive session.
In connection with Human Rights Day, a webinar on "Right to Education Act-2005" was organized in collaboration with the Department of History on 11-12-2020. Jithin Paul Varghese, Advocate, High Court of Kerala served as the resource person.
A national webinar on "Resorting to Resort Politics: Judicious Perspective to Modern India's Political Ethics and Ethos" was organized on 25th August 2020 in association with the Department of History. The webinar was led by Hon'ble Justice B. Kemal Pasha.
