The Department of Economics organized an Orientation
session on Career Opportunities after Graduation in Economics in association
with RISE Institution Thrissur on 18/01/2024. The session could provide
valuable insights and tools to navigate their professional paths effectively.
It helped students to understand the various career opportunities, develop
skills, and plan their professional trajectories. II and III year Students took
their participation in the session.
The Department of Economics in connection with the World environment day organized an idea pitching contest on eco - friendly products on 12th June 2024. The competition provided the students an opportunity to introduce eco- friendly ideas with the product in a PPT presentation mode. The competition was really an enthusiastic initiative to support sustainable development paths. The active participation of students made the programme a huge success. Fida V.S of II D.C Economics bagged the first prize and Nayana N.P of III D.C Economics got the second prize.
As a part of ‘World Statistics Day’ the departments of Statistics, Zoology and Economics of Little Flower College, Guruvayoor collaborated together to conduct a one –day workshop on “Research Methodology Using SPSS” on 2 July 2024 for post graduate students and research scholars. The resource person of the seminar was Dr. Rasin R.S, Assistant Professor, St.Thomas college Thrissur. This session really helped the students to acquire a deeper understanding about the usage of statistical inference tools using the SPSS software. After each class a doubt clearance session was provided for the participants. Research scholars and the students utilized the opportunity to deal with their doubts and they took advantage of the chance to address their uncertainties. The students' comprehension of the application of statistical inference methods with the SPSS program has significantly improved as a result of this session.
In connection with the independence day the Department of Economics organized an inter-departmenal quiz competition on the topic “ Indian economy from independence till now” on 14th August 2024. The first prize was received by Arya M.R and Soja M.I of I B.A Economics and Jaslin V.J and Dhakshina R of III B.A Economics bagged the second prize.The third prize was received by Thrisha M. J and Supriya Sunilkumar of I B.A Economics.
The inaugural ceremony of the Departmental association “Economica” along with the evaluation of the union budget 2024-2025 was organized on 9th august 2024 at 10. 30 am. The association activities were inaugurated by Dr. Rajesh K, Assistant Professor , Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies. After the inaugural ceremony a detailed presentation on budget and its different facets was presented by Dr. Rajesh K. The presentation was followed by a question and answer session. The students had eagerly participated and benefited very much from the session.
The department of Economics celebrated their Christmas
with the Differently abled persons. It was a wonderful experience filled with
joy and inclusivity.
The National Seminar on “India's
Economic Resurgence: A Modified Paradigm for Development” organized by the
Department of Economics in collaboration with KSHEC held on 06/12/2023 at Little Flower College,
Guruvayoor , brought together experts, policymakers, academicians, and industry
leaders to deliberate on a modified paradigm for the country's development. The
event aimed to explore innovative strategies and frameworks to propel India
towards sustained economic growth, emphasizing a departure from conventional
approaches. Principal Rev.Sr Dr Valsa M.A. presided the inaugural ceremony of
the national seminar.The inauguration of the seminar was done by the chief
guest Dr C.Jerome Samraj, Assistant Professor in Economics, Pondicherry
University. Dr Shanavas P.H., Assistant Professor in Economics, Krishna Menon
Memorial Govt Women’s College, Kannur was the other resource person of the
national seminar.
The National Seminar on “India's Economic Resurgence: A Modified

06/12/2023 at Little Flower College, Guruvayoor , brought together experts,
policymakers, academicians, and industry leaders to deliberate on a modified
paradigm for the country's development. . The Research paper presentation sessions went on parallely in the
morning and afternoon sessions. A total of 32 participants presented the papers

The Department of Economics released the Manuscript "Metamorphic Horizon" on 06/12/2023 in connection with National seminar . As a repository of students work, it become a dynamic reflection of academic growth, fostering a sense of community and intellectual exploration. This compilation not only reflects the the collective creativity of aspiring minds but also provides a tangible testament to the unique perspectives and talents thriving within the Department.
The Department of Economics Inaugurated their Association 'ECONOMICA'. It marked a significant milestone and opened a wide platform to students of Economics. Dr. Ramya R , Associate Professor and Head Research and Post Graduate Department of Economics, Government College , Thrissur inaugurated the Association activities. Dr. Ramya R made an expert talk on "Gender Responsive Local Governance". Hashna M.A and Arshifa O.A received Cash prize for the Inter- College PPT Competition "Financial Resource Mobilization during post-covid period in India" conducted by the Department as a part of Eco-fest "ARTHULLAS 2023".
Department of
Economics conducted a Book review competition in connection with International
Day for Poverty Eradication on 17/10/2023.
Partcipants are judged based on the quality of their analysis, writing
style and insightfulness. This
competition encouraged the students to read, critically think and articulate expression
of ideas. Rishala M, ( I MA
Economics) bagged the first prize. Second prize won by Anjana SatheeshKumar
(III DC Economics).
On 21/09/2023 the
Department of Economics organized a Career Orientation
session in collaboration with TIME Institute Thrissur for the II BA
Economics students. The resource person Mr Civin K.V discussed in detail about
the competitive examinations and career options they can persue in future. Dr
Neethu S Arrakal, HOD introduced the session. The team also conducted a mock
aptitude test for the students.
Minju David P, Assistant
Professor Department of Economics gave a lecture on the topic Balance of
Payments in India: Current Scenario as apart of Multi Disciplinary Discourses
hosted by IQAC on 26/09/2023. The session was very informative.
Department of Economics celebrated Teachers day on 05/09/2023. Students of Economics expressed their tokens of love and appreciation to teachers for their contributions to student's lives and education.

Lecture Series 2023.The invited guest was Ms Seema Suresh, Wild Life Photographer.
The students of our Department got an opportunity to mingle with her and was

Department of Economics organized a Student Induction Programme for I year B A Economics students on 04/08/2023. Ms. Minju David Assistant Professor dept. Economics, conducted a session on the course structure, exams, and career opportunities in Economics. Ms. Ansa Tobby Cheeran, Assistant professor in Economics was the motivational speaker who had secured 1st Rank in Economics in 2020. she shared her experience, strategies, and tips for Academic development of the students. The session was very productive.
For
realizing the significance and Unleashing the power of gender equality and uplifting the voices of women and girls to
unlock our world’s infinite possibilities, the department of Economics conducted an
interdepartmental brainstorming session as a part of ‘World Population Day on
the topic ‘women empowerment and Gender equality on 11th July
2023 at seminar hall. The competition was judged by Mr. Derry Paul,Assistant
Professor from the Department of Political Science and Miss Ansa Tobby Cheeran,
Assistant Professor, Department of economics. 5 Teams were participated from
various departments. Shamsiya Farhana,III DC Economics, Anjana K.H,II DC
Economics, Amina and Asna From III DC History and Sreelakshmi from II BA
HRM has selected as the best team and
Asna Sherif from III DC History got selected as the best Debater among them.
In connection with World Environment Day, the
department of Economics organized a ‘Power point presentation competition on “Plastic Pollution and Management”, to create awareness among the students to mitigate
plastic pollution under the campaign ‘Beat Plastic’ on 12 June 2023. The
competition was an initiative to nurture the value of eco-sensibility among
students. The competition was judged by Miss Minju David, Miss Ansa Tobby
Cheeran, and Miss Serene Thomas of Department of Economics and The first and
second prize in the competition were won by
Jaslin V.J and Chinmaya, students of II DC Economics respectively.
The
Department of Economics conducted an online session on Questionnaire framing -
“How to design a questionnaire” the orientation session was held through online
platform and the resource person was Dr. Jesna P, Assistant professor in Department of Economics, MCC,
Kozhikode.
The
quiz competition is conducted for the students as a part of the Economic expo. Ms.Minju
David. P, was the quiz master. The quiz hut makes them actively participate and
the expo make them to know the complex matters of the subject in a simplest
manner.
Department
of Economics organized an economic expo and quiz competition on February
20,2023 from 11.15 to 2.30 at Rosa- hall, inaugurated by Principal, Rev. Sr.
Dr. Valsa M. A. PG and UG students from the Department exhibited charts,
working and still models based on Indian Economy and its Prospects and
challenges. The students from various departments and nearby schools are came
to visited the expo. It was a great exposure to students.
The

The Department of Economics
organized an intercollegiate PowerPoint presentation competition in connection
with ARTULLAS 2023 on February 20, 2023. The topic for the competition was
Financial Resources Mobilization During Post-Covid Period in India. The competition
was held between 20 February to 28 February 2023. Mr. Derry Paul. Assistant
Professor, Department of Political Science, and Ms. Serene Thomas from the
Department of Economics judged the competition. Hashna M.A, Arshifa O.A from
First M.A Economics bagged first and Second Prize respectively.
The theoretical and Practical
sessions of the Research exploration and hands-on training on SPSS were taken
by the Research scholars in Economics, Sherin P.S, and Sreenij K.S. The session
was meant to assist the Postgraduate and Undergraduate students with their
final-year thesis submission. Students from nearby colleges also participated
in the session. The session was highly beneficial for the students to get into
the depths of the research and the various statistical tools and methodologies
of the research.
Department
of Economics organized the second day of the Economic Fest ‘ARTHULLAS 2023’ on February
20, 2023 from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm at the seminar hall with the inaugural address
of Rev. Sr. Dr. Valsa M. A.
The first session of Arthullas 2023
was conducted with a budget talk held in association with Geojit financial Ltd,
Guruvayoor on February 13, 2023, from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm at the seminar hall.
The inaugural address was given by, Rev. Sr. Dr. Valsa M. A. An analysis of the
union budget 2023-24 was done by the resource person, Dr. K.V. Vijayakumar,
chief investment strategist, Geojit Financial Services. Anjana Sathishkumar and
Sethulakshmi. C from II DC economics did a PowerPoint presentation related to
the priorities of budget 2023-24 for creating general awareness among the
peers. In connection with the Union Budget, a debate competition ‘Arthvaad’ was
conducted. The students of Economics, Commerce, and HRM attended the session.
Sr. Dr. J. Bincy, Head of the department welcomed the audience, and Dr. Neethu.
S. Arakkal, Assistant Professor in economics felicitated the talk. The program
came to an end with a vote of thanks by Ms. Minju David. P, Assistant Professor
in Economics. It was a fruitful session for the students to formulate an
opinion about the latest union budget and its pros and cons. The students
raised their queries related to it.
To
enlighten the students about Indian economy: Current Scenario, prospects and
Challenges, the Department of economics organized a two-day economics fest
‘ARTHULLAS 2023’ on second and third weeks of February.
The
Department of Economics in association with RISE training Academy, Thrissur,
conducted an orientation session on ‘RISE: Choose your Career right, and work
towards it’ for providing career guidance among the students in economics on
January 17, 2023.The session helps the students to know more about their career
and set right goals for their future.
Department of Economics Organized a Quiz Competition "VIGYAN" in connection with International Day for the Eradication of Poverty on 31.10.2022.

Dr. Neethu. S. Arakkal , Assistant professor, Little Flower College , was the resourse person for the session. It was really a fruitful course for the students.
The Department of Economics conducted Induction programme for the First year UG and PG Students on 29.09.22
Realizing the significance of population growth, the
department of Economics conducted an interdepartmental essay writing
competition for the student concerning ‘World Population Day on 12th
July 2022. The programme was a huge success by the active participation
of students. Marwa Fazal won the first position in the competition and
Sethulakshmi C and Anjana Satheesh Kumar won the second and third prizes
respectively.
In connection with the association’s inauguration and ‘National
Statistics Day’ an orientation session on research “Stepping Stone to Research”
was also arranged. Dr. Sanoop M.S, was the resource person of the session. The
session was highly beneficial for the students to get into the depths of the
research and the various steps and methodologies of the research.
The inauguration of the Association of the Department
of Economics ‘ECONOMICA’ was conducted on 27th June 2022 at 2 pm in the Seminar
hall. The chief Guest was Dr Sanoop M.S., Assistant professor, Dr. John Matthai
Centre, Thrissur.
Igniting the spirit of reading among graduate students
the Department of Economics of Little Flower college organized a reading competition
“Read and Feed” in connection with the reading day on 20th June 2022
at 12 pm in the seminar hall. Each contestant was given 2 to 5 minutes for reading.
The competition was judged by Miss Minju David of the Department of Economics
and Miss Annroopa Jacob of the Department of English. The first prize in the
competition was won by Samveda and second prize was bagged by Sethulakshmi C
The students designed and created useful products and
crafts from waste items. And an exhibition was arranged on 10th June
2022 for the display of their creativities. Around 21 products were exhibited.
In connection with World Environment Day, the department of Economics organized a competition and exhibition on recycled products. The competition named “Better Earth” was an initiative to inculcate an environment-friendly attitude among students.
The Department Of Economics organized a Seminar on the topic "Time Value Of Money". The topic presented by Ms Faizna Faizal Rahman, III BA Economics . This kind of Seminar Presentation helped the students to mould them to be a good presenters too.
The Department of Economics Organized a debate on 23/02/2022. The topic of Discussion was "UNION BUDGET PROS AND CONS". Fifty students took part in the Discussion.
An online Workshop on
Research Methodology: An Introduction to Data Analysis was organized by the
Department of Economics on 11/02/2022 from 7.00 PM to 09.00 PM. The resource
person for the workshop was Dr Shafeer P.S, Assistant Professor in Commerce
& Research Guide, MES Asmabi College, Vemballur. The Workshop was meant
for the final year BA & MA Economics
students . A total of 67 participants attended the session.E
certificates were provided to the candidates who participated in the Workshop.

Department of Economics organized a National level essay writing Competition in
connection with the Education day celebration on 11/11/2021.The entry was open
for all the college students.We received 12 entries. Ansa Tobby Cheeran ,II MA Economics, MD College, pazhanji
bagged the first prize in the Essay writing competition.

Creation through Effective Portfolio Management in connection with World Thrift
Day on 30/10/2021.Mr Pradeep Chandrasekharan, Founder Director, FinMark
Trainers India Pvt Ltd was the resource person for the session.The session was an

As part of the 75th year of Independence Day the staff and students of Department of Economics collected essential items through a Campaign and handed over to Jyothirgamaya Swasraya Kendram Perumbilavue, a rehabilitation Centre for Visually challenged persons.
On population Day July, The Department of Economics organized an international level video competition on the the theme " Need for sexual and reproductive health,overcoming vulnerabilities during pandemic .
The Department of Economics organized a Department Level Reading Competition."Read a Book; Ignite Your Dreams", on 19/06/2021 as part of Reading Day Celebration. Twelve students of our department took part in the competition.The students realised the stories offered many facets.

As a part of International
Differently Abled Day celebration on 03/12/2020, HOPE(Human Offering Paradise on Earth),an
initiative by the students of Economics to help the marginalized sections of
the society, of the Department of Economics took initiative to give the audio
version of study materials of Economics to help the visually challenged UG
students. The inspired students of our Department recorded the study materials
of the subject and sent the recorded matter to the needed visually challenged
students across the state.
The Department of Economics
organized a Christmas Card Making Competition for college students. The
Competition was open till 23/12/2020.The guidelines were given to participate
in the competition. We received eighteen entries. The first and second prizes
were awarded to Jisna Jose V.,III DC Economics, Little Flower College,
Guruvayoor and Jisna Raju, II Msc Mathematics, Little Flower
College,Guruvayoor.
The Department of Economics organized a Debate on Farm Bill 2020-
Pros & Cons for the students of
Economics of our College on 14 December 2020.The Moderator of the debate was Mr
Arjun M.,Asst prof. in Political Science, Little Flower College,Guruvayoor.The
students actively took part in the debate.Sr J.Bincy,HOD felicitated the

The Department of Economics organized a National Level online essay
writing competition in connection with International poverty Eradication Day on
October 17, 2020. The topic for the competition was “Poverty amidst Plenty: A
Growing Mismatch”. The competition was held between 17 October to 30 October 2020.Based on the 12
entries received the first position was secured by Ansa Tobby Cheeran ,I MA Economics,MD
College,Pazhanji. The second prize was was shared by Fathimath Sifana P.V.,I BA
Economics Little Flower College, Guruvayoor and Krishnaja M., I B COM, Sree
Krishna College,Guruvayoor.

Person for an Online Training Session on Public Speaking Skills organized by the
Department of Economics, St Mary’s College, Thrissur on 23/09/2020 .The session
threw light on various areas of
speaking.
The Department of Economics
organized a One Day Webinar on Global Career Opportunities for Economics
Graduates on 28/09/2020 from 2pm to 3 pm.305 students of Economics including
graduates & research scholars from all parts of India took part in the
Webinar. The resource person of the Webinar was Mr Sony Varghese Akkara, MD, Eazy
Lind Educational Consultany Service, Thrissur is a Career Consultant who has
more than 35 years of rich industry experience. Sr J.Bincy welcomed the
audience. The programme ended by a word of thanks by Dr Neethu S.Arrakal,AP in
Economics.The programme threw light on the current employment scenario and
global employment opportunities for economics graduates
The Department of Economics organized a communicative skill
enhancement training, “Spoke Smith” on 26/08/2020 from 2.30 pm to 3.15 pm.
Exactly 205 students from various streams of our College took part in the
training session. Dr Neethu S.Arrakal, Asst. Professor in Economics led the
session.She motivated the students by sharing her experience as a teacher,
trainer and Placement Coordinator. The training proved to be effective for the
students.
The Department of Economics organized a National Level Power Point
Presentation Competition on the topic, “Developmental Changes in Indian
Economy since Independence”, on the eve of Independence Day of 2020.We got
32 entries to the contest. Angel P.Glifyraj, Agnitha Joby and Neethu Dasan P., III
DC Economics, Little Flower College, Guruvayur won the first, second and third
prizes respectively.
The OSA Lecture Series Season 1 was organized by the Department of
Economics on 25/07/2020(Saturday) from 11.30 AM to 12.30 PM. The programme,
Success Mantra, How to Become a Successful Entrepreneur? was led by Ms Deepa
Devaraj, Director, Asia Bulks General Trading FZE, Ajman, UAE. Almost 100
students of our Department attended the session. The programme was a motivating
one which gave an insight into the entrepreneurial perspective.
As a part of the World Population Day Celebration on July 11 2020
the Department of Economics organized an Intercollegiate Video Population Day
Message Competition ,”She Concern” on the 2020 population day theme, “Health
and Rights of Women in the Time of Covid 19”.Neethu Dasan P.,III DC Economics
won the first Prize. The second prize was shared by Agnitha Joby and Aleena
K.F. of III DC Economics, Little Flower College, Guruvayoor.

The Department of Economics has organized a National Level Online Quiz on Research Methodology, “Research Talent” from 12/05/2020 to 22/05/2020. E certificates were issued to the participants who have scored above 70 %. More than 1000 students across the nation participated in the quiz.

Poster Designing Competition on the topic Economic Impact of COVID 19 on India
on 13/04/2020.The competition was open till 24/04/2020.Many students from all
over the nation took part in the competition. The first and second prizes were
bagged by Alet Maria Raju, St Joseph’s College, Irinjalakkuda and Christy
C.Johnson, Vimala College, Thrissur.
The Department organised an Interdepartmental
Power Point Presentation Competition for the students on the topic Investment
on Girl Child Education & Challenges on 11/07/2019.The winning team was
awarded cash prize of Rs 1000.Sr Roslin Poulose and Aiswarya Anoop of I MA Economics, bagged the first Prize.Gayatri
M.R. of III BA English won the second prize.
An exhibition on the current economic situation in India named Economic Travelogue was also put up on 29/07/2019.The Travelogue was inaugurated by Sr Dr Philo Jees, Principal, Little Flower College. The charts and still models of economic concepts created by Economics were attractive. The expo was visited by students and staff of nearby schools and college.
A one day
training workshop on
Methods
of Economic Analysis was organised by the Department of Economics on 29/07/2019
in the seminar Hall.The session was inaugurated by Dr Francis K.M.,Emiritus
Professor,St Thomas College,Thrissur. The workshop provided hands on skill
training thereby enhancing analytical skills among researchers and research
aspirants. A total of 103 participants
attended the session.
The students of the Department of Economics
visited an old age home at Kottappadi on 03/08/2019.38 students accompanied by
3 teachers visited the inmates. The students organised entertainment activities
and enjoyed the meal with the inmates arranged by the department students.
As a part of the activity “Sharing of Meals
with the Poor’’ of HOPE, the students of III BA Economics led by Sr J.Bincy
helped an old woman beggar, found staying in a demolished building on the road
side, reach back her home at Tamil Nadu. She was fed by our students who helped

Sr J.Bincy delivered an invited talk on
“Gender Equity-Prospectus and Challenges” at the NSS Special camp of LFCGHS
School, Mammiyoor held at St Therese HS School, Brahmakulam on 23/12/2019.The
session was interactive & inspiring with real life stories.
Christmas celebration in a prison is just a celebration for the inmates who are away from their loved ones but surrounded by hundreds of other inmates dreaming of home. Sr J.Bincy ,HOD ,Department of Economics took part in the Christmas celebration held at Sub Jail,Chavakkad on 24/12/2019.The celebration was inaugurated by Sri. Thomas, Jail Superintendent along with cutting a cake. Sr J.Bincy delivered the Christmas message to them. Variety entertainment programmes of the inmates were also put up.It was all a new experience for them sharing their feelings and being consoled.
As a part of social service activities of the
students’ venture, HOPE-“Human Offering Paradise on Earth” the students of III
BA Economics collected fund to help the poor and destitudes of our
society and handed over it along with a cake to Mr Lal, Managing Director of a
Charitable Society at Kunnamkulam on 24th December 2019.
On Christmas Eve of 2019, a celebration was
arranged with the street children so that they experience what Christmas
celebration was all about. For poor children all this is a dream. Sr J.Bincy, HOD,
Department of Economics took part in the celebration and shared the happiness
with them. Some of these children had no longer parents or had been neglected
by their parents. A few families from the neighbourhood too joined hands in the
celebration extending financial aid for the conduct of programme. They served
the meals to the street children and ate food with them. A musical entertainment
was also arranged for the celebration. The children were all set on a new
rejoice when gifts were presented to them.
The Department of Economics organised a
Lionization Ceremony on 22/01/2020 to congratulate Athulya Soman, II BA
Economics who has won Silver and Bronze medal in the Indian Round Mixed item
and Indian Round Team item in the All India Inter University Archery
Championship in the Indian Round held at Bhuvaneswar.Sr J.Bincy, Head of the department addressed & welcomed the
audience.Dr Neethu S.Arrakal, Asst. Prof. in Economics felicitated the staff
and the students. Akshara R.,III BA Economics proposed the vote of thanks.

Competition on the topic “Economics News for a Fortnight (Nov 15-30,2019)’’ was
organised by the Department of Economics on
13/12/2019 from 1 PM to 3 PM at
Seminar Hall. Students from different departments took part in the event.
Akshara R., III BA Economics and Niranjana Ramesh P.,II BA History bagged first
and second prizes respectively.
As a part of Swachhta Pakhwada Campaign, the Department in association with the Department of Commerce organised a "Say No to Single Use Plastic" Campaign on 27/01/2020 . A road show consisting of flashmob and street play was put up at 10 AM at Kottappadi Centre.Sri Abhilash, Standing Chair Person,Guruvayur Muncipality inaugurated the Campaign.Sri K.V.Abdul Kadher,MLA,Guruvayur, Mr Prem Rajan,SI of Police felicitated on the occassion.Sr J.Bincy,HOD coordinated the Campaign.
A Budget Talk was organised by the Department of Economics on 19/02/2020 from 9.30 am to 11.30 am at the college auditorium.The Resource Person was Dr K.V. In connection with
independence day celebration the Department of Economics organized an interdepartmental quiz competition on 21/08/2023 at 1
pm in the Seminar Hall. Ansa Tobby Cheeran was the quiz master of the event. Ten
teams took part in the competition. Anjali S.Nair and team of I BA English were
the winners of the Quiz Competition.
The
Department of Economics organized a session on ‘Guide to write a Research
Paper’ in connection with the National statistics day on 30-06-2023. Mr.Teeson
C. J, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, Jain (deemed to be
University) was the
resource person of the session. Second year UG and PG
students in economics were attended the session. The talk was highly influential to inculcate inquisitiveness
among the students to
get into the depths of the research and various
methodologies of research.
